How I Managed the Three Days of Teaching Responsibilities
The three-day Life of a Teacher experience was intense but incredibly rewarding. Stepping fully into the role planning lessons, managing the classroom, assessing work, and supporting learners gave me a realistic taste of everyday teaching. I coped by staying organised, preparing materials in advance, and maintaining a positive mindset throughout the experience. Breaking tasks into smaller steps helped me avoid feeling overwhelmed, and reflecting each day allowed me to adjust quickly and improve my approach.
Comparing the First 4 Weeks to the Last 4 Weeks of Teaching Experience
The first four weeks of my Teaching Experience felt like a steep learning curve. I was still trying to understand school routines, expectations, classroom dynamics, and teaching strategies. I often felt nervous, and I relied heavily on guidance from my mentor teacher.
By the last four weeks, everything felt different. I became more confident, more independent, and more comfortable taking the lead in the classroom. I began to anticipate learner needs, manage transitions smoothly, and deliver lessons with a stronger sense of presence. The growth from the beginning to the end of TE was evident, not only in my teaching skills, but also in my mindset.
Activities I Found Most Challenging and How I Overcame Them
The most challenging activities were managing administrative responsibilities (like marking, recording results, and preparing resources) while also delivering meaningful lessons. I overcame these challenges by asking experienced teachers for practical tips and applying what resonated with me. Another challenge was adapting lessons for learners with different levels of understanding. To overcome this, I incorporated more checking-for-understanding strategies, used visual aids, and simplified explanations when needed. Over time, I became better at reading the room and adjusting my teaching in real time.

Self-Evaluation Results: How “Ready” Do I Feel to Enter the Profession?
Based on my self-evaluation survey, I feel increasingly ready to enter the teaching profession as a beginner teacher. While I recognise that I still have much to learn, I am confident in my ability to plan effectively, communicate clearly, manage a class, and reflect on my practice. My readiness lies not in perfection, but in my willingness to grow, seek help, and continue learning. This Teaching Experience affirmed that I have the foundational skills needed and the passion required to begin my journey in this profession.
Comparing My Initial Self-Evaluation to My Mentor Teacher’s Final Comments
When I look back at the initial self-evaluation I completed at the start of my Teaching Experience, I can clearly see how much I have grown. At the beginning, I rated myself cautiously, especially in areas such as classroom management, confidence, and lesson delivery.
My mentor teacher’s final comments, along with the exit level outcomes, highlight significant development. They noted my improved communication, strong lesson planning, and ability to create a supportive learning environment, this is also based on the feedback I received after my lessons. These comments reflect the growth I also noticed in myself particularly my increased confidence, improved interaction with learners, and better understanding of the professional responsibilities of a teacher. Seeing this alignment between my self-reflection and my mentor’s feedback reassures me that I am progressing in the right direction and that the Teaching Experience has prepared me meaningfully for my future career.

This is such a well-written and honest reflection. I really appreciate how clearly you explained what those three days of full teaching responsibility felt like. It’s not easy to step into every part of a teacher’s role at once, but the way you managed your time, stayed organised, and adjusted each day shows strong professional maturity. You can really tell that you gave your best and learned a lot from the experience.
Your comparison between the first four weeks and the last four weeks is so relatable. That shift from feeling uncertain to becoming more confident and independent is exactly what teaching practice is meant to do. It’s beautiful to see how your mindset changed as you gained more experience…
